Thursday Things

{Yes, Thursday. It's still Thursday here, folks!}

❊ I've seen my fair share of rain, but Hawaii has the craziest rain I've ever seen. Earlier, I had to turn the volume up on the TV because the rain was so loud. 2 seconds later, it was back to sprinkling... As I was typing this, the same thing just happened - again. See? Crazy! Which is totally fine as long as I'm inside. =)

❊ The only "live" television in Hawaii is the local news. So, I wish they would stop saying "broadcasting LIVE from ___." It's not live... It's recorded. =P

❊ I'm extremely unhappy that Grey's and Private Practice were re-runs tonight. I look forward to Thursdays!

❊ I got The Social Network in the mail today!! (Netflix) I can't wait to watch it! =D

❊ Cooking has become a last resort for me lately. In an attempt to avoid going to the commissary and dealing with the masses, I've had to cook the last few things I have. =P These days, Lean Cuisine is a staple and the things I'd usually buy if Joe were home are last on the list. Sad, but true. I promise I still know how to cook, baby!

❊ I've had my nose in a lot of books lately. Is it possible to go on a reading binge? If so, that's what's happening with me. =P It's weird, but sometimes I go months without picking up a book and then BAM! I just can't stop reading. I'm waiting on my next historical fiction book to get here, so I've been reading Harry Potter. Believe it or not, I've never read these books before! I've seen all the movies (to-date, of course) but I never read the books. I think I read the first one in about 4 days, and I'm already on the fourth or fifth chapter. They're a really great read! The movies leave out a lot {newsflash}, so it's nice to get to know the characters a little bit better.

❊ I was supposed to have a Dr's appointment yesterday, but it got cancelled. Normally I wouldn't have been so irritated by that, but there were two things that really upset me. 1) My shoulder has been hurting on and off for WEEKS. I really want to know what's going on, and I ended up getting bumped back two more weeks. Actually, I'm going to call tomorrow and beg for an earlier appointment because I can't take it anymore. 2) My appointment was at 0800, which means I had to get up early... Because you know that you have to be there 15 minutes early, which really means get there 20-25 minutes early to find parking! So by the time they called, I'd already had breakfast and a shower. Grrrrrrrrrr.

❊ I am SO ready for my husband to be home. *sigh* He's been having kind of a hard time lately and that just makes things harder for me. His roommate is basically the roommate from hell - lazy, late, annoying, irresponsible, cares only about himself...you get the picture. Then, his whole platoon gets punished (save the NCO in charge, of course) for the acts of the few. Translation? Ridiculous formations and "chores" that result in little to no sleep and extremely low morale. What does that mean for my husband? Severe headaches and one monster migraine that sent him to the clinic. He only gets them when he's really, really stressed out or tired. And if he doesn't get medicine in time, they become nasty migraines. Usually, he has to take something to knock him out which is why he went to the clinic. He tells me this and I immediately feel bad - wishing I could be there for him or could help him somehow. It sucks. Royally.

❊ Nothing has the ability to send me into almost-immediate depression like an abundance of pregnancy announcements in one week. I know this makes me sound completely awful, but it's true. And it's not that I'm not happy for them, because I am. I really am. It's a very happy thing... Which is why it depresses me. If that makes any sense. Joe and I talk about it a lot - how much we want a family, names, hopes, etc. I guess that's what makes it hard... Knowing that we both want that and not being able to have it for one reason or another. Most of the time I'm content with where we are, but other times it's just hard to see all of my friends get to have the things we want the most.

❊ I've said it before and I'll say it again: Murad is awesome! I was talking to K at the museum the other day about how much I love it. Yesterday, she had asked me again what it was and after "work," we ended up going to the PX to get the trial kit for her. We were sneaky about it because she can't shop at the PX, but I can. ;-) I know it's bad, but I know I wouldn't have wanted to wait to get it in the mail! She told me today that she already loves it. =) I bought the body wash the other day too, and I'm already loving that even though none of my acne has disappeared yet. It'll happen, but until then at least my skin feels great!

❊ I'm not-so-secretly hoping that Joe follows his impulse and buys the new iPad and has it shipped here. ;-) Since I got a new computer and phone at Christmas, we decided that he'll get a new phone (iPhone, of course, so we can FaceTime) and an iPad since his laptop is still fairly new. I want to play with the new iPad (hehehe), but I'm not sure he'd be too thrilled about me playing with his new toy before he gets a chance to play with it. =P Can't say I blame him, though.

❊ I'm hoping to get those books for the big 4-0-0 celebratory giveaway soon! I'll keep you posted! =)

Soooo proud of you for reading Harry Potter! :) Jason is actually reading them too, and I'm so excited to be able to talk to him about stuff that is in the books and not in the movies!

Hang in there about the preggo thing. God ALWAYS has perfect timing and I know he has lots of little bundles of joy for you and Joe! You will both be great parents.

I hate Joe is having it rough...can't wait for him to come home!

And...I MISS YOU! :( You are not allowed to move to Hawaii anymore.

Last weekend I had I think 5 people announce they were expecting. Must be something in the water?

I may have to try Murad, I have this one spot on my face that will just NOT go away. I'm not sure what's causing it or even what it is. :S

Hope you're able to get into the doctors earlier than 2 weeks from now, especially if it's hurting you so bad.

I secretly want the ipad2 as well! :D

Have a good weekend

So, are you on the first or second book of HP? I'm re-reading GoF. And we're listening to the audio book in the car. *love*

I hear you about the pregnancy announcements. Bittersweet.

Sorry about the pregnancy announcements! :(

Nasty roommates can make a deployment awful! J def won the roommate lottery, and they got along beautifully. But their neighbor would go DAYS without showers (and not because he had to) and they could smell him from the room over! I could only imagine what his roomie suffered through!!

Ahh the million pregnancy announcements... that has set me into a depression as well, especially since Kevin and I have been trying for almost 2 years. I'm happy for them too, but its like when is it our turn?? I totally get what you mean, you don't come off as being awful at all :)

Random, but I happened to get the Social Network today too! I'll just say that the opening scene has the fastest dialog of any movie I've ever watched- I only got about every 4th word!

I was super bummed about Private Practice being a re-run too. It's usually one of the better parts of my week...well, during a deployment that is.

So funny, the Harry Potter books/movies are what I've been reading/watching during the last 3wks of me being home. I'm almost done with the 5th book and the movie is just waiting for me. (My sister has the boxed set of books & all the DVDs, through 6 of course).

The whole reason this came about is because I went to see Pt. 1 of movie 7 and realized I never got past book 3 or movie 4! Haha... slacker.
