Hodge Podge

I know you guys have secretly been missing my posts full of randomness. Who am I to deny you what you love so much? ;-)

Yesterday started out very slowly. I woke up at a normal-ish time for me, let Jasper out and had breakfast. I had great intentions. I was going to get up, unpack, shower, get lunch, go to WalMart, the post office and the commissary. But... I ended up parking myself on the couch until around noon. After lunch, I decided it just might be a good idea to get a shower and go get food since I had nothing worth eating. Half the stuff in my fridge looked - as Joe would say - like it was about to form some type of Parliament. I know some of the things in my pantry are stale and/or moldy. {I may or may not have had semi-stale cereal for breakfast...}

I had two reasons for going to WalMart: sewing materials (batting and a zipper) and weed-eater. And maybe a few other things while there. You know how that goes. Well, once I got to thinking about it I didn't really feel like making that big of an effort. I'm pretty sure I was in super-lazy mode yesterday.

I ended up going to the PX, the commissary and the post office yesterday. I grabbed some goodies to send to Joe and food for the house. And I sent him a package. I felt terrible that I hadn't sent it before I left for the holidays. While Joe was home, he set out some clothes he wanted me to send to the sandbox. It's getting pretty cold there, so he grabbed his winter PTs. Well, with the craziness that R&R brought coupled with the fact that he left one day before I did, I never got around to doing it. I know he's been freezing. =( I feel like a bad wifey. Hopefully, the package that my SILs and I sent him while I was in NC will hold him over until his winter PTs get there.

Yesterday, I read on someone's blog that Zoya was giving away 3 free nail polishes because they reached X number of "likes" on Facebook. Good 'ole Facebook. =) Normally I wouldn't have given that another thought, but I realized that they had a nail polish called - wait for it - Sarah. How could I not order a nail polish with my name on it?! Heck, since they were giving away 3 I might as well go for it, right?! =) Well, this is what I ended up with:

Sarah =)

Gloria

Burke
(And I couldn't help but think of Grey's Anatomy with this one... =))
All photos found here.

You do have to pay for shipping, of course. It ended up being like $6.95 for me, which is about the price of one bottle. If you think about it, I got 3 for the price of one! Even the hubby thought it was a good deal. I'm pretty excited about this because I don't own much nail polish. Honestly, I usually only paint my toenails because I like my fingernails just the way they are.

I took down the Christmas decorations yesterday. I'm sure most of you have done this already, but I haven't been home to do it. Plus, looking at them just made me miss Joe... So, adios, Christmas decor! Luckily, I only have two large rubbermaid totes full of decorations so it didn't take too long. Putting the boxes up was the only real challenge. *sigh* If Joe had been home, this would have been his job. Sadly, he's not so I had to "woman up" and do it solo. I ended up smashing a toe (don't even ask me how I managed that), yelling and punching a box in our storage closet. I'm pretty sure that the temper tantrum was me being ticked  off that my husband wasn't here to help me. Just another one of those deployment related anger issues. Yay.

I also got to talk to Joe twice yesterday. This is the #1 reason I am so glad to be back in my own house. His internet wasn't working while I was visiting for the holidays and I know he was adjusting to being back in the sandbox, so communication was very sparse. Then, I came home and things are pretty much back to normal! I'm loving it. I got one 15ish minute phone call and then we chatted on Skype for a little while after he got back to his CHU. I really missed just talking to him. While I was home for the holidays, I felt like we were just having the "Hi, how are you? I'm doing well. I miss you. I love you. Wish you were here." kind of conversations. And now we can just talk again. Know what I mean?  =) I love that man.

Now that I'm home, I also have some sewing projects to tackle! These are in no particular order because, let's face it, I do the projects based on what I feel like doing at that point in time. =P

1. Quilt for my new nephew. (Oh, I guess I should mention that my SIL is having a boy this time!)
2. Laptop cover for me - which is why I need a zipper.
3. Laptop cover for my SIL.
4. Potholders...also for me...
5. Quilt for our future babes. (No, not prego...just planning way ahead. ;-))
6. Possibly this cute little bag...
7. This travel bag - at some point.
8. A Nook cover for Joe.

Yikes. Who knew my list would be so long?! I should probably get to work... Right after I get that zipper!

I was planning on going to WalMart today until my FRG leader asked me to help out with the Halfway Celebration this afternoon. I'm probably being a big baby about this, but I really didn't want to go. I wanted to go to WalMart, get the zipper (and probably the weed eater since my backyard resembles a small jungle), come home and make my laptop cover. Plus, I really don't want to be around people. Shocking since Tuesday I had the crap-I'm-all-alone-again breakdown. I guess I have officially bounced back. But, I decided that since I'm co-leader and all it might just be a good idea to help out. *sigh* I'm only going to be there for 1.5 hours so it shouldn't be too bad...right?

I hope y'all are having a terrific Thursday! I, for one, am excited about the return of Grey's Anatomy tonight! Eek! =D

I love you more than words can explain right now! I am so in love with Grey's Anatomy, but I forgot all about it coming back on tonight! I was so used to it being off that I forgot about it! Whoops, thanks so much for reminding me!

Oh, good luck on the craft projects. I wish I was crafty, it might be a good idea for me to buy a sewing machine for when hubby gets deployed. I have always wanted to make a quilt, diaper bag, and purses.

I love the nail polishes also!

I like your sewing project list - the potholders look so cute - I just might need to add them to my ever-growing sewing list too!!!! SO glad you are getting to talk to your man - I totally understand about being able to just talk!

I didn't make it past the nail polish part of this post so I may end up leaving 2 comments!

Right before I opened my google reader, I completed my order for my free nail polish too and we ordered 2/3 colors the same =) And I searched for my name and was going to get it no matter what the color was, but there were no matches found =( Too bad APO wasn't an option so I had to have mine sent to my mom and then I'll have to wait for her to have something else to mail to me before I get them, but hey, they're pretty close to free so I'm in! PLUS, we have like a total of 15 colors at our PX to choose from...lame!

And this is completely random, but since this is a random post,I decided it's ok to mention....when I get to Hawaii, can you PLEASE take me shopping?!?!?! We made reservations at Chef Morimoto's restaurant and I hate everything in my closet right now and I don't feel like fasting for 2 weeks to fit into a dress I could buy here in Japan!

*sigh* Your craft project list puts me to shame! Although I think I have an excuse right now for not having a list started yet, considering we're still getting settled in this house. And then the mad scrapbooking will commence!!

And the Sarah nail polish is by far my favorite!
